Throughout the past century or so, there have been a huge amount of epic and memorable moustaches to grace both the big and small screens. Some huge, some small, some funny and some serious. All of them however seem to make a lasting impression throughout the ages. Here is my list of my top 10 (in no particular order) memorable Movie & TV Moustaches!
Bill ‘The Butcher’ Cutting – Gangs of New York
Portrayed by renowned actor Daniel Day-Lewis in Martin Scorsese’s 2002 film Gangs of New York, the character of The Butcher has an epic and admirable Moustache more awesome than the real life William Poole. Check out this scene from the film below:
Ron Burgundy – Anchorman
A hilarious tongue and cheek poke at the state of the 1970’s news industry, Anchorman ranked at 113 on Empire’s 500 Greatest Movies of All Time. Portrayed by comedian Will Ferrall, Anchorman is a great example of an awesome moustached character, and a inspirational moustache for MoBros to look up to!
The Stranger – The Big Lebowski
Basically any film that features actor Sam Elliot in contains an epic as hell ‘stache! His part of The Stranger in 1998’s The Big Lebowski, was a minor but pivotal role that left an impact, not only for the part in the film, but that immense soup-strainer on Elliot’s upper lip. Check out the scene below:
Ben Luckett – Cocoon I & II
The movie Cocoon is the story of a group of trespassing senior citizens who swim in a pool containing alien cocoons, they find themselves energized with youthful vigour and life. The character of Ben Luckett is played by legendary moustached actor Wilford Brimley. An awesome heart-warming film to watch. Check out the trailer below:
Machete Cortez – Machete
Played by the unforgettable Danny Trejo, Machete first hit the screens in the (at the time) fake trailer prior to the start of Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse flick Planet Terror. This then lead to two films, with a potential third in the making. Check out the awesomeness of Machete’s moustache in this video below
Ron Swanson – Park’s & Recreation
From 2009 – 2015, Park’s & Recreation brought one of the greatest MoBros in the history of television to life over 7 seasons in the form of the ultimate man’s man Ron Swanson. Portrayed by real life Movember Ambassador and Mentor Nick Offerman, his brand of manliness, non caring and anti government ideals (while working in government) has cemented Ron Swanson as easily the great Moustached man on TV in the last decade.
Lando Calrissian – Star Wars Episode V & VI
As one of the only characters in the Star Wars galaxy that seems to have any form of a moustache, Lando Calrissian played by Billy Dee Williams, is a essential character within the original trilogy. First as a friend of the “space pirate” Han Solo, then as a traitor, and then back to an ally, finishing up as the leader on the final assault on the second Death Star. Lando is awesome.
Thomas Magnum – Magnum P.I.
During the 1980’s, Thomas Magnum’s moustache thrust Tom Selleck into the stratosphere as a sex symbol for millions of ladies! Proof of the power that moustache. contains!
Jules Winnfield – Pulp Fiction
He can quote scripture, give a mean foot massage and grow one super cool moustache. Enough said.
Borat Sagdiyev – Borat
Finally to round out our list its Borat Sagdiyev from the 2006 Film Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan and The Ali G Show. One of the more controversial characters of 2006 and a traveller/journalist with an impressive ‘stache.
